Yesterday, my church had MayFest. It is a day just for the kids in the church and the community. We missed eating at the cook-out and the homemade ice cream because my nephew went to prom and I wanted to see him all spiffed up. Beth & Livi tagged along, and we got there in time to see the huge water slide they had set up. This was the slip-n-slides to end all slip-n-slides!!!!! They put a tarp on this big hill at the church and poured water and baby soap down it to make it good 'n slippery. What can I say????? At least the kids enjoyed their baths!!!!

Then they brought out Aquilla, the hedgehog. I think that she was my favorite of the night. A real cutie, and she felt so funny to touch.

They had an alligator. I didn't think that he was so cute, but hey that is just my opinion. The guy said that they get up to 20 ft long....then he walked 20 ft off for us......ummmmm, that is one mammoth alligator! Then he taught us how to put an alligator to sleep. When it is upside down it puts itself to sleep because it doesn't get enough blood flow to it's head! Pretty cool man!!!

Ok, then of course he saved the next one till almost the very end! It was a HUGE snake.....YUCK!!!! I get the Illy-Willies just thinking about seeing it again. He had to keep reminding us that nothing God made is that bad. So snakes can't be all bad. AND it was considered a "safe" animal! So, off course he brings it around and most of the adults are running and I am definitely hiding behind the camera....but not Livi....Look at this!

Then to recoup from the big, nasty snake he brought out this....

How cute!!! He looks like Ross' monkey from Friends! And go figure, he wasn't a "safe" animal!!!!! What is up with that!?!?!?!?
They also brought some kind of bird, an armadillo, and a snapping turtle ( and boy was that thing ugly!!!).
Everyone (little & big) had a great time and the zoo was a HUGE success again!!!!!

That is a great idea. Bring the zoo to you. I had no idea that Ross monkey was not a safe monkey. Learn something new everyday.
How awesome is this?! Cool. I showed Joe this post and he's all like, waaaay cool, man. he loved that alligator! glad y'all had fun.
is the snake sinking his fangs into that dude?
Katie, no the snake isn't sinking his fangs into him. Although, at one point he had himself wrapped around the man so tight that we thought he might suck the air out of him. The man tried to assure us that the snake couldn't do that to even the smallest one there.....we weren't convinced!!!! It was great though, very cute idea for a birthday party me & Beth thought!
Wow it was pretty cold for a slip and slide this weekend but I'm sure the kiddies didn't mind. That is so cool to have your own zoo viewing!
That's pretty cool. I would have loved to see the monkey though he isn't safe. I wouldn't be too crazy about much else.
