Kid Tested and Approved

Tonight my cousins John & Melissa and the kids brought over some of their old toys for me. Izzy & Chey found the kids room as soon as they got here. Izzy insisted on getting in the baby bed and when mom told him no he went on exploring. A little later we heard him giggling and I went in to find this...

the little bugger had climbed in himself. And once he was in......

Chey just couldn't resist. She had to get in too. So, they both helped me make sure that it was safe for future kids to sleep in. Quite fitting since Cheyenne sleep in this bed as a baby and then Izzy.

So, I have to give a huge shout out to my cousins John & Melissa who have donated basically all of their kid stuff to me. And to John who never comes to visit without fixing everything that he can find to fix. They are the BEST!

Introducing one of my oldest BFF's....

~~Angela~~
Me and Ang, we go way back. Outside of my cousin Bethie, Angela is my oldest friend. We are so alike in personality, that even though we didn't really look alike, our teachers couldn't keep us apart in school. My dad refers to her as his third daughter. I mean we practically lived at each others houses growing up. I don't keep a large group of really close extended friends but I have a few who might as well be family and Ang, well she is definitely one of them. I have watched her get married and build a beautiful family and am so proud of the lady that she has become. Before I get all teary, I leave you with a funny pic of me & Ang as kids.

Check out Angela's blog in my Favorite Links. It is Party of Five.

Welcome to the wondermous world of blogging Ang!!

Long Awaited Visit

Today, I FINALLY had my last visit with my DFACS worker. That means that my life story has been completed and is now only waiting for final signatures. Might I just add how weird it is to read your life story as told by someone else. I started classes in August and the process should be completely finished by the end of the month. I am so glad that this part of classes, tons and tons of paperwork, and home evaluations are finished! So, that means by February I can start waiting on that first call. My social worker asked me today if I had any more questions, and I said, "....ummmm, yeah, so, when they drop that first kid off in the middle of the night and I get up the next day and have no clue what to do......who do I call?"

I leave you with the beginnings of the kids room and the quilt that my mom made for it.

The BIG 5!

Happy 5th B-day Kade!

Today one of my best friends little boy turns 5. Last night at our girls night at Angela's house I asked Kade what he wanted me to get him for his birthday. Now listen up all you parents 'cause Ang has trained her kid right! He responds, "I don't need anything." WHAT!!!!! I quickly called Beth over and told her to ask him the same question to which his response is the same. I said well there has to be something that you want. And he responds, "My mommy says that I already have everything." HA!!! Boy, did we have a good laugh over that one.

In the beginning...

.....there was just little 'ole me. However, I have to forewarn you, I have adopted many of my friends and families kids as my own. They are affectionately known as my "kiddos." So, I am sure that there will be many pictures to come of all of them.

For right now my little Abby is my only baby. However, she doesn't live with me. It would've killed my mom if I had taken her when I moved a few years back.

Isn't she the cutest???? AWWWWW... she actually needed a visit to the doggie salon in this picture. I will have to find a better one later.

I am very close to becoming a licensed foster parent. Many, many people think that I am crazy or "nuts." This is not a decision that I have made lightly though. I have thought about it, obsessed over it, and prayed ALOT about it for almost two years before I started taking the classes. Now, I am finally almost ready to start. All you mommies out there get ready.....cause I am sure to need lots of advise!!

So, this is how my story starts. Check back in for the mad escapades of a single foster mommy.
